Two Proven Protection Methods
CoilShield understands that every HVAC system faces unique corrosion challenges, which is why we offer two proven protection methods. Whether you need economical passive protection with our sacrificial anode system, or professional-grade active protection with our ICCP device, CoilShield delivers reliable, long-lasting corrosion prevention.
Sacrificial Anode System: Economical Passive Protection
Our economical passive protection system works automatically with no power required:
- No Power Required: Magnesium anode clamps directly to the suction line. When the system operates, condensation forms on both the anode and the coil. The condensate acts as an electrolyte, completing the galvanic circuit.
- Self-Regulating: Protection activates automatically when the coil is wet—which is exactly when corrosion occurs. Dry coil = no electrolyte = no corrosion = protection not needed. Wet coil = electrolyte present = corrosion possible = protection active.
- Easy Installation: Simple installation on the suction line—accessible without disassembling the air handler. No system modifications, no refrigerant handling, no electrical work.
- Cost Effective: Affordable protection that prevents expensive coil replacements. Save $850-$2,400 in out-of-pocket costs even with warranty coverage.
- 10+ Year Protection: Long-lasting sacrificial anode provides continuous protection for over a decade.
Ideal for: Residential and light commercial applications, normal environments, budget-conscious installations.
ICCP Device: Professional Active Protection
For larger systems or more aggressive environments, our Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system provides precise, adjustable protection:
- Active Protection: External power supply drives protective current through an inert titanium anode. Allows precise control of protection levels and works even in challenging conditions.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Controller monitors protection levels via reference electrode. Precisely regulated DC current maintains optimal protection.
- Adjustable Current Control: Fine-tune protection levels to match your specific system requirements and conditions. Current density capability: Up to 100 A/m².
- Professional Installation: Expert installation by certified technicians for optimal performance and reliability.
- Long-Term Reliability: Design life: 20+ years. Consumption rate: Negligible. Built to withstand harsh operating conditions.
Ideal for: Commercial and industrial facilities, aggressive environments (coastal, pools, agricultural), larger systems, critical applications where precise control is essential.
Which System Is Right for You?
Choose Sacrificial Anode if:
- You have a residential or light commercial system
- You're in a normal environment (not coastal, pool, or agricultural)
- You want economical, maintenance-free protection
- You prefer DIY-friendly installation
Choose ICCP if:
- You have a commercial or industrial facility
- You're in an aggressive environment (coastal, pool, agricultural, industrial)
- You need precise control and real-time monitoring
- You have a larger system or multiple units
- You want professional installation and ongoing support
Both Systems Provide Proven Protection
Both approaches work. Both are proven. Both have protected billions of dollars in infrastructure for decades.
The global cathodic protection market exceeds $5 billion annually. This isn't experimental technology. This isn't theoretical chemistry. This is proven engineering that prevents corrosion on trillions of dollars of infrastructure worldwide.
